Oh, those Wednesdays

My weekly schedule is a little like that of a ninja. Nothing happens. Nothing happens. Someone kills my master and damn, I’ve got work. Well, there were dudes in jammies with swords everywhere today. (And the metaphor will end … now). So I’ll give you a brief roundup of the stories I’m monitoring the rest of the week.

  • I’ve had some great comments this week and one of them inspired me to write a longer piece on the state of small town newspapers in the Internet Age. I hope to have that up Thursday.
  • I’m not hearing much from my sources at the State Capitol. We’re all waiting to see what Gov. Tim Pawlenty will do with that $925 million bonding bill from the DFL House and Senate. I’ll dissect this before his decision if possible, afterward for certain.
  • Still waiting to hear the identity of the mythical Republican planning to challenge Jim Oberstar for the MN08 seat in Congress. I hear he’s 12 feet tall! I hear he’s got diamonds where his eyes should be and teeth made from dinosaur bones! Well, that’s just what I hear. (DNT … read the comments to see some of their readers ideas)
  • Some minor blips regarding some local economic development projects … we’ll see.
  • KAXE is running its spring fundraiser. The fundraisers are necessary for them to function, of course, but they also run some fine programming during these weeks and if you don’t know much about KAXE — the last great hope for free media in the universe (my opinion) — you should check them out.
All that and more, when I feel like it!
