The future of the Iron Range (needs you!)

I’ll be taking part in a round table discussion about the future of the Iron Range at the Mt. Iron Public Library Wednesday, Jan. 7, (tomorrow) from 2-4 p.m. I snagged the swank invite because my new book “Overburden: Modern Life on the Iron Range” discusses that very topic, among other history, political, beer- and gun-related concepts. I still don’t know who else is on the list, but I’ve heard a few names and can say it’s a veritable who’s-who of the Iron Range. Ethnic names? You betcha.

The public is welcome, indeed needed, at this event. I’ll have books on hand to sell and sign as usual. But mostly it will be an interesting opportunity to figure out what might be in store for this unique area, nestled in the bountiful wilderness of Northern Minnesota. Come on down to the library in the charter city of the Mesabi Range this Wednesday from 2-4 p.m.!

On a side note, I was interviewed Monday by Boyd Huppert at KARE-11 TV from the Twin Cities. I’ll be part of a story about the economic conditions on the Iron Range set to air in mid January. Stay tuned for information and links when the time comes.
