Cherry readies for a fight

A defiant school board member Darrell Bjerklie speaks out in defense of my alma mater: Cherry High School. The community is girding for a fight as the St. Louis County schools look for big cuts amid a financial crisis. Cherry isn’t any worse off than the other schools; it’s just close enough to other schools to be absorbed. I don’t know how sending the FTEs to other districts would help the county schools. This story deserves close monitoring.

  1. The district board has cut and wants to cut more basic things from the schools (except sports, of course) and so kids are going elsewhere. They need to take more risks by bringing in more basics and more unusual course work to bring in more students and get back the students who should be in this district.
