High speed in the sticks

A quick link today. This Sharon Schmickle story on MinnPost highlights what will be the untold central battle in northern Minnesota economic development: high speed internet. Private or public or both? To do nothing is a major mistake, as I have previously opined. A network of high speed internet access in rural Minnesota isn’t for the people who currently won’t use the technology, it’s for the people who will 5-20 years from now.

Interestingly, the Blandin Foundation will be sponsoring a conference about the future of broadband in Northern Minnesota this November in Duluth that might be worth checking out.
