Brown on the Air: SAVING TIME!

Daylight savings time is upon us. Clocks spring forward this Sunday morning, ushering in the annual period of unnatural light adjustment indicative of modern life. All I know is that I’ve spent the last several weeks trying to explain how days get longer in the spring to my first grader and now when we go out to the bus on Monday I’ll have new things to explain. (“Once upon a time, as agrarian life first began to fade, political leaders sought to conserve lamp oil and coal.”)

The topic of this Saturday morning’s “Between You and Me,” the participatory culture show on 91.7 KAXE, is “saving time.” My regular contribution covers some ill-fated attempts I’ve made to save time. Is time something we should even try to control? My experiences have varied.

Tune in to “Between You and Me” from 10 a.m. to noon on 91.7 FM in northern Minnesota and streaming live and archived at www.kaxe.org. You can review my past essays at the BYM program page.
