Top notch accordion show on tap this weekend in Virginia, Minn.

My friends over at the B’nai Abraham Cultural Center, site of the last remaining functional Jewish culture site on the Iron Range, announce a concert event that should be of interest to any fan of good music. Mark Stillman and his Klezmer Musicians will perform there Sunday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. It’s a free show! Events are sponsored by the Friends of B’nai Abraham and the Virginia Area Historical Society.

Mark Stillman and His Klezmer Band: Mark plays the accordion and is the leader of this popular band. He has been heard on the Garrison Keillor show & in 2011, he was honored to be the recipient of the 2011 NE Accordion Festival (NEAF) Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Castle Accordion and Mill City Accordion Association.

Mark performs with vocalist Sima Shumlovsky, and with clarinetist Shelly Hanson. From the Twin Cities, this Klezmer Band plays the kind of music that makes the listeners tap their feet, and stand up and dance – Ethnic Eastern European Jewish/Gypsy Music – and whistle and hoot for more!

The B’nai Abraham Center is located at 328 5th Street South, the corner of 4th Avenue and 5th Street South, in Virginia, Minnesota.
