Great Northern Radio Show on the air 5 p.m. Saturday

This is it! The biggest show in the history of my Great Northern Radio Show is on the air Saturday night at 5 p.m. We’re in rehearsals this afternoon and tomorrow before tomorrow night’s big show.

“Big” is such a relative term, and we’ve had some fun with this. By big, I mean that we are in the biggest theater we’ve ever tried, the Reif Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. I was worried we couldn’t fill it, but word from the box office is that nearly all the tickets have been reserved at this hour. There will be some seating left if you want to swing by the theater before 4:30 Saturday, but the rest of you might wish to simply plan on listening to our show live on the radio.

You can hear Northern Community Radio at 91.7 FM KAXE in Grand Rapids, Aitkin and the Iron Range. We’re at 90.5 KBXE Bagley, Bemidji and west central Minnesota. You can also hear us at translators 89.9 FM Brainerd and Baxter or 103.9 FM Ely. We’ll be streaming online at KAXE.org.

The show airs from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, June 29. We feature Actual Wolf, the Roe Family Singers, In Theory, Sam Miltich, Mary LaPlant and more. We caught some media buzz for this one, and really hope you like the show. Stay tuned for information about rebroadcasts and our podcast release.

Meantime, please consider becoming a member of Northern Community Radio, which is wrapping up its summer fundraiser the night of our broadcast. They took an enormous chance on my show, which is an embodiment of their mission: serving, representing, entertaining and honoring the people of northern Minnesota.
