Bentleyville to stay open through Jan. 4

Bentleyville 2013

This is a snapshot from our trip to Bentleyville on Thanksgiving weekend.

The Bentleyville Festival of Lights attraction in downtown Duluth will stay open past New Years until Jan. 4, organizers say, to make up for several days lost to extremely cold conditions last week.

Bentleyville is an annual tradition for many in northern Minnesota. We went the day after Thanksgiving and were surprised to see a friend from the Twin Cities and her family waiting in line for Santa. But when it’s -20, Bayfront Park is not a fun place to be, and downtown Duluth has noticed the impact of the below average temperatures of this December.
