Sad news over the weekend as the owners of Ciao! Rustic Italian restaurant in Side Lake announced they would be closing the restaurant at the end of the year. In a blog post, the owners said they have decided to pursue other opportunities that would not allow them to run the restaurant anymore. They did say they will continue to use the space for a new purpose, including a monthly live music event.
The same blog post announced that they would be opening something called Sunny Side Creations in the spring.
Side Lake is a sort of remote Iron Range colony. Often known as a playground for more affluent Range residents (not that there are many of them), Side Lake also boasts a distinct culture and its own unique local population. Ciao! Rustic Italian was a mainstay for most of these folks. Riverside and Bimbo’s Octagon (yes, that’s the name) remain as dining options up in that neck of the woods.
