CHISHOLM, MN, JANUARY 2, 2014 – Minnesota Discovery Center (MDC) in Chisholm has developed a fun, exciting, educational monthly series – Family Discovery Days – that offers interactive learning opportunities designed to inspire, create and ignite a love of learning. The kick-off event is set for this Saturday, January 4th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This Saturday’s theme and events include:
· Who’s Hibernating
· Journaling
· Marble Mania
· Behind the Vault
· Minerals Rock!
· Move that Location
· Folk Art Demonstrators
· Cuyler Adams & Una

“Our fun educational programming offers meaningful activities and experiences for our youth,” said Lisa Vesel, CEO. “Focusing on STEM concepts and the importance of all types of learning is another way the Museum is here to help kids discover their potential and explore their interests leading them toward future success.”

In February kids will have the opportunity to spend a night at the museum featuring a jam-packed evening from learning about telescopes to a flashlight scavenger hunt to a late-night movie. “In one day, families may experience nature, play an Egyptian game, create an art piece, and engineer a building – and we incorporate the history of the Iron Range as much as possible with every activity, said Mai Vang, curator. “It will be fun for both kids and parents.”

Cost for the event is regular admission and free for MDC members though some activities may require RSVP and/or additional fee. For additional information, please visit the organization’s web site at www.mndiscoverycenter.com.
