The B’nai Abraham Cultural Center in Virginia, Minnesota, announces its summer concert series. Stressing strong musicianship with Iron Range roots, the schedule allows you to experience the arts in the Iron Range’s last Jewish cultural heritage center. There’s a lot of history in this building.

The first show lets you see one of Minnesota’s best jazz singers, Connie Evingson, who grew up in Hibbing just down the street from Bob Dylan’s old house. She was featured on NPR last year.

Here’s the schedule for the B’nai Abraham concert series:

Friday, June 27 at 7 p.m.
Connie Evingson and her jazz band
$10

Saturday, July 12 at 7 p.m.
Northern Lights Music Festival (dir. Veda Zupancic)
no charge

Saturday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m.
Pat Surface and the Boundary Waters Boys featuring Donna Surface
Nostalgic music of the ‘60s and ‘70s

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased after June 1st at the Virginia Area Historical Society, 800 9th Avenue North, Virginia (218)741-1136. Tickets are also available at the door beginning at 6:15 the night of the concert. Cash and checks only, payable to the Friends of B’nai Abraham. Ticket sales and donations help the Friends of B’nai Abraham bring  entertainment to Virginia and continue the restoration of the building. B’nai Abraham is located at 328 5th St. South (corner of 4th Avenue and 5th Street) in Virginia, Minnesota.
