The independent public station 103.3 FM KUMD in Duluth will launch its first ever “NorthFest” on Wednesday, April 1 with live music all day on the campus of the University of Minnesota at Duluth. The lineup features excellent representatives of the growing Duluth music scene, including several past (and future?) guests of my Great Northern Radio Show on fellow indy station Northern Community Radio.

Some of the big highlights for me would be Haley Bonar’s return to Duluth for a 9 p.m. show with Gramma’s Boyfriend. At 1 p.m., KUMD will broadcast the Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank, a past GNRS favorite, for a live preview of their new album. I also imagine that Marc Gartman’s Fever Dream featuring Alan Spearhawk and Steve Carrington of Low at 11 p.m. in the planetarium will be quite a trip.

Still more artists involved, as you can see in the poster below. Go to KUMD for more information and enjoy the music if you’re in Duluth on April Fool’s Day.
