In a short time I’ll be making my way across the Mesabi Iron Range to Aurora and Palo as I prepare for this Saturday’s Great Northern Radio Show.

If you’d like to see the show live, perhaps after a day of Laskiainen fun in Palo, you need to be seated at the auditorium in Aurora by 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The show is live on Northern Community Radio from 5-7 p.m. Tune in at 91.7 KAXE on the Iron Range, in Grand Rapids and Aitkin. In Bemidji, Bagley and points west, we’re on 90.5 KBXE, with translators at 89.9 in Brainerd and 103.9 in Ely. We’ll be live streaming all over the world at KAXE.org.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and are free for students with college ID and teens or children under 18. You can reserve them at KAXE.org, by calling 800-662-5799, or buy them at the door.

The Great Northern Radio Show is a project I started almost five years ago with a sincere desire to do something useful and hopeful with my life. The goal is simple: Provide smart, witty humor and great music for all ages in places that generally get the shaft by big fancy people. We continue to develop our format and improve with the goal of reaching people wherever they may live, whoever they may be.

It’s show weekend. Time to roll.

I talked about Laskiainen in my Sunday column. I previewed Saturday’s Great Northern Radio Show in an earlier post.
