I’ve seen the numbers. Even though this is the only independent blog wholly dedicated to “Modern Life in Northern Minnesota,” nearly half of you live or work in the Twin Cities metro area.

That’s fine. We’re cool. But it means we never get to have awkward exchanges at the grocery store, or silently wonder what’s in each other’s bags at the pharmacy. What a pity!

Well, I will make one of my rare sojourns to the metropolitan hub of the North Star State this Thursday, Sept. 1. I will join the Northern Community Radio broadcast team at the Minnesota State Fair near St. Paul. The station broadcasts live from the AMPERS booth in the Education Building from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. I’m on for the 9 a.m. to noon block.

We lined up several guests, but we’ll also be snagging people we find in the crowd. So if you are a “famous” and/or “interesting” person, come on down! Heck, come on down to say hi even if you are “normal.” It’d be fun to meet the people who support the blog.

Looking back, I haven’t been to the State Fair since I was a teenager. I can only recall that it was overwhelming and that driving in the Cities with my mother in the passenger seat was something I would never repeat.

Everyone talks about the food at the state fair. I eats a bit. We’ll try some of that.

Even if you’re not at the Fair, you can tune in to the Northern Community Radio State Fair broadcast from 9 a.m. to noon on 91.7 KAXE Grand Rapids/Iron Range, 90.5 KBXE in Bemidji area, 89.9 FM Brainerd and 105.3 FM Ely. We stream all over the world at KAXE.org.

Meanwhile, I near completion of the script for my Sept. 24, 2016 Great Northern Radio Show, broadcast live from Fortune Bay Resort and Casino in Tower.
