The Minnesota Boys Basketball Tournament is going on in St. Paul this week. The North Woods Grizzlies, champions of northeastern Minnesota’s Section 7A, are still in the hunt, thanks to this heroic shot by sophomore Cade Goggleye.

Check it out:

The Duluth News Tribune also has a good story and yet another angle on the shot.

The hometown Timberjay features another triumphant account of the day’s events.

North Woods is located between Cook and Orr north of the Mesabi Iron Range in Northern Minnesota. The Grizzlies are the among the last Northern Minnesota teams left in the tournament. They play Goodhue at 2 p.m. today at the Target Center.

The Crosby-Ironton Rangers play St. Paul Cathedral in the Section AA semifinals at 8 p.m. As longtime commenter David Gray points out, the C-I Rangers are on their 21st trip to the state tourney, with coach Dave Galovich approaching 700 career victories.

Hey how about some attention for the Crosby-Ironton Rangers from the Cuyuna Range? They are on their 21st trip to state right now with head coach Dave Galovich headed towards 700 career victories.

  2. Shoot! And you even commented about that in a post recently. My mistake. I’ll revise the post. Sorry, David! Go Rangers! 🙂

    Many thanks!
