My friends the Rudstroms in Brevig Mission, Alaska, posted a great video about what happens when a snow drift blocks the door to your house in an Alaskan Inuit Village not far from the Bering Strait. (h/t Rudstrom Family Blog)
And, on the subject of things that are close to Russia, via “TYWKIWDBI” here are some of the earliest known color photographs (from 1910-1915) taken in the waning days of the Russian Empire. Here’s my favorite:

You see pictures like this in the paper on the Iron Range today only the older person is wearing a polyester Blatz Beer jacket, the middle person is wearing an Adidas jacket and the younger person is wearing a tube sock as a top.

Cant’ imagine venturing out into that. That old picture is great also.
I think I’ve hears of other people from around here living in Brevig mission, some people from my church. I guess Alaska recruits teachers from our northern areas.
@PS (PSanafter-thought) That’s the Crocketts. They’ve been here for 15 years or so now. It was crazy, I met them before I moved up here. Brian was a guest preacher in Virginia so I stopped on by and met them. I’ve taught 3 out of their 4 children now.
