Rudy, RIP, still taking flak from the papers

The Chicago Tribune used the biography of the Iron Range native and late former Gov. Rudy Perpich as grist for an attack on current Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich last week. More than a few Iron Rangers will take issue with the characterization of Rudy, as did a Tribune reader and transplanted Iron Ranger now living in Dekalb, Ill.

It’s nice to see that after 100 years, pro-business editorial boards still have a irrationally big problem with bohunks in high office. What’s that about?

  1. If this is journalism then I am Rex the Wonder Horse.

Not only was this article insipid, it was written in a manner more compatable with that of a third grader.

Articles like this are the reason many people like myself leave the mid west and its small minded, uninformed opinions that are put forth as the gospel.

Having grown up in Hibbing and knowing the Perpich family, I take great exception to your so called article. This is not the Rudy Perpich myself and others knew. He was thoughtful, kind, considerate and willing to help in times of need. To personally attack both he and his wife, goes directly to your lack of professionalism and inability as a writer. When left with empty space and an inability to form a cohesive thought process, you dropped to the lowest common denominator, hurling insults like a school yard bully.

This article along with it contents is insipid and reflects on you personally as an idiot. Note, the personal attack. Since that is your forum, I thought you would be most comfortable having someone insult you. That is your common ground is it not?

  2. Sherrie —

Uh, are you talking to me? You’ll want to direct your criticism to the Chicago Tribune which wrote the editorial that I pointed out here. I happen to agree that it was a harsh and unfair attack on Rudy Perpich. That’s why I pointed it out here.

    Thanks,
