Supply and demand: why the markets matter (jn Twins Country)

It’s all about the markets.

With three small children who are not as small as they used to be, our closets are laden with tiny Minnesota Twins outfits that no longer fit the boys. My wife, the Northern Cheapskate, is considering selling some of the outfits on eBay.

The problem is that the Minnesota Twins are in a one game playoff tonight with the Chicago White Sox to determine the American League Central Division Championship. If they win, the Twins are in the “real” playoffs, thus increasing the eBay value of the Twins outfits (until they are savagely and disappointingly defeated at some inopportune time in the future). If the Twins lose, the Ebay value of the tiny Twins outfits will plummet, making them similar in value to your so-called “American dollars.” (HA! Remember when people used “dollars” to buy things).

Let’s hope they win. They may not deserve to win, but for the common good they must.

Metaphor!
