Mouthing for a cause: Iron Range Lip Sync Battle

It is an arduous pop culture trek that brings a hot new trend from the lips of Jimmy Fallon to the theater stage of Hibbing Community College. On Thursday evening, another fad completes its journey as the first-ever Iron Range Lip Sync Battle will take place at 7 p.m., with proceeds benefiting Advocates for Family Peace.

Participants will include elected leaders, business owners, and representatives from area non-profits and churches, each of whom will have prepared elaborate stage presentations of popular songs without actually have to sing them. In a place like the Iron Range, you surely would know some of the people on stage and you can also bet that the chances of them appearing in varying states of awkwardness are dangerously high. This event is a spectacle, one that could quickly derail and yet become even more enjoyable as flames lap the overturned racing bus burning on the tarmac.

Admission is $14. Advocates for Family Peace is the leading organization helping families dealing with domestic violence on the Iron Range. Their work is very important. Seems like you can’t go wrong here.
