A ‘moving’ Great Northern Radio Show from Hibbing

Just over a week ago I hosted another episode of my Great Northern Radio Show on Northern Community Radio. We broadcast live from Hibbing Community College in Hibbing, Minnesota, on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, the same site of our first show six years earlier. And it was a blast. Arguably our best engineered show ever, we got great performances from the Iron Range-based band Hobo Revival and our all-star house band led by Bemidji’s Katie Houg and national touring musician Corey Medina. We also mined for laughs and extracted enough to be considered “viably funny,” despite competition from cheap subsidized foreign laughs.

We have some fun with the town’s history of moving for the iron mining industry and the fact that it now employs more medical professionals than it does miners.
