Conventional wisdom has John McCain’s running mate list pared down to our Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney. Barack Obama is supposedly down to Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, though Kaine has been getting most of the buzz in the last 24 hours.
The Star Tribune pointed out Tuesday that if McCain picks Pawlenty and Obama picks Kaine we will be guaranteed a Minnesota native as Vice President. Obviously we all knew Pawlenty was born here, but I have to admit I just learned that Kaine was born in St. Paul and lived here as a small child before his family relocated to Kansas City.
And while I like Kaine and, on my good days, respect Pawlenty, their debate would be SOOOOOO boring.
