August could be an interesting month:

  • Thursday brings some crucial decisions about the Mesaba Energy Project from the PUC. The Legislative Auditor is also going to be releasing some preliminary findings about the spending of public loan monies on this seemingly never-ending consumer of public funds and mental energy this month. All of this could spell doom for this boondoggle … or not.
  • We still have the unresolved Iron Range Resources budget. Range legislators are divided on fundamental aspects of the budget and there will be more debate on this subject soon.
  • Russia is letting up on Georgia today, which means we can forget about how feeble the situation makes the U.S. look and talk about drilling for oil again. Just bury those doubts about U.S. foreign policy, Joe America. Bury them deep. Down with your daddy issues. Don’t think about it. Now or ever. Drill. Drill. Drill.
  • I’m officially signed up for Barack Obama’s e-mail list to be “first to know” his V.P. selection. OMG. I will totally tell you once I know.
