Keep it in the family, Joe

Looks like a little DFL family squabbling is getting out into the public eye. Former State Rep. Joe Begich kicked up a fuss at the aforementioned Sportsman for Obama event about bumper stickers and signs. This isn’t helpful, but indicative of the kinds of problems you have when the political infrastructure in our area is disconnected from the outside world. See, in the old days, the local political workers did the grunt work and the national campaigns just flooded the field with bumper stickers and signs. Now, because our workers are fewer and older up here, the national and state campaigns are spending their money on field workers. By and large, their efforts could be very effective, but the Range is one of the few areas left that still seems to count on free and ridiculously profuse yard signs as political theater.

Oh, generational change, why must you be so awkward to read about in the paper?
