Register to vote today at Range community colleges

I am one of the organizers of a nonpartisan Democracy Fair at Hibbing Community College today. (Yes, I’m partisan, but the event isn’t). From 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., students (and anyone) can pre-register to vote in Minnesota in the HCC Commons. Candidates for House District 5B, including Rep. Tony Sertich (DFL-Chisholm) and his GOP challenger John Larson of Hibbing, are expected to attend, as will several Hibbing City Council candidates and representatives of the major political parties.

A similar event is going on today at Mesabi Range over at its Eveleth campus around the same time. The hope is to register as many college students before Tuesday’s deadline for pre-registration as possible so that voting is easier on Election Day. Fortunately, Minnesota allows same day voter registration as well.

Disclaimer: I am organizing the HCC event as part of my job as an instructor at the college. My work on this blog is not related to my position there.
