Name that delegation!

As Minnesota’s legislative session begins I am left with a conundrum. I cover the whole state but pay special attention to the Iron Range. Thus, I am forced to type the phrase “Iron Range DFL legislative delegation” again and again. I’d rather have a short nickname I could use instead. No acronyms. (IRDFLLD just doesn’t work). I’m looking for something catchy, like Team Cobra or Lightning Squad, but not those. Leave some suggestions and I’ll post a poll Friday or early next week. The winning name will be how I describe the delegation during the session … maybe even FOREVER.

  1. Legislative Emissaries From The Range would indicate that they are LEFT-R than most. What about simply “Range Delegation.” Or using the long form the first time in an article and then Range Delegation in subsequent references. Are there other ranges in MN? What about the people “up here” who aren’t exactly on the Range?

  2. (Sigh) OK, I could just say “Range delegation” — I’ll put that on the poll as a control. But you’re missing the point. I think a whimsical nickname would be far more entertaining for what looks to be a fairly gloomy and sad session.

LEFT-R is OK, but not fully accurate. Remember, these guys fight with the big city liberals.

  3. Actually, I did get your point, but I’m just not very clever. Go, Go, Dig ’em out, Dig ’em out, Go Ranger Shovels!

  4. Now you’re getting warm!

I’m going to put down “Shovelers” — it works on many levels. See how easy it is!

  5. Someone will ask What are the Shoveling? and then we will see that shoveling BS isn’t limited to an area. BS = basic sincerity, right?

  6. Delegation against Metropolitan Opulence…doesn’t really reflect the political flavor of the group though. When I lived in Hibbing, someone told me where I could shove my metropolitan opulence, I thought it was a little amusing.

  7. Deer Shack Democrats. a.k.a. Democrats with Guns (and beer).

Kind of like Log Cabin Republicans, but without the fancy hairstyles.

  8. D-Miner has a catchy tune.

Shoveling BS, ha ha ha ha ha good one.

  9. Frankly, I like “Range Delegation” because it implies they are emissaries to a foreign land. Very apt, I think.

  10. How about the Drunken Carpetbaggers?

  11. Regardless of what you call them your still going to have to type out ron Range DFL legislative delegation. For example if you write

“The Team Cobra (my fancy nickname for ron Range DFL legislative delegation) did this on Friday…”

Or you risk alienating some of your readers…

  12. OK, I guess this will not stop until my buzz is totally killed. 🙂

It’s for fun, see. Maybe it sticks and maybe not, but let’s see what happens.

  13. “D-Ranged Delegation”

    Is Tommy the D-Ranged leader?
