Tomassoni likely has clear path to IRR Board chair

An update to an earlier post:

It now appears that State Sen. David Tomassoni will have a clear path to become chair of the Iron Range Resources Board this go-around. This was probably helped by his early announcement of candidacy in a recent Mesabi Daily News story. Things could change but my Ranger pals at the Capitol seem to be zeroing in on that outcome. The chair position is elected by the board but candidates are nominated on some kind of rotation that I don’t yet understand. Yet to be determined is who will hold the more ceremonial and perfunctory position of chair of the Iron Range Legislative Delegation. For two years that position has been held concurrently by outgoing IRR Board Chair David Dill, but traditionally the two positions are held by different people.
