Deer 1, Matt Lauer 0

I was about to give Matt Lauer of NBC’s Today show some Northern Minnesota props after he missed this morning’s show because of “an accident involving a deer.”

That is, until I learned that he was on a bike and didn’t actually hit the deer, but rather flipped over his handle bars trying to avoid it. City boy.

  1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  2. Aaron,

So … suppose you were about to hit a deer on your bicycle. Obviously, you’d try and nail it good and solidly, right?

My question is: Would it count against your limit?

  3. No one tries to hit deer with bikes or anything else, but that doesn’t make Matt Lauer falling over his handlebars any less funny.

Oh, and legally you can kill as many deer as you want, so long as you do so with a vehicle. I wouldn’t recommend a bicycle.

Also keep in mind that most insurance plans don’t cover “I crashed after I swerved to miss a deer”, they only cover you when you actually hit one (I guess that’s due to the fact you can rarely find a deer to verify your story).

Granted, I’m talking about auto insurance. Not sure about bicycles.

  5. Oh man, that sounds awful. At least you wouldn’t be going terribly fast, like a motorcycle, but it would still be plenty scary.
    What are the chances???? wow!
