Celebrate Thanksgiving with the Great Northern Radio Show

Happy Thanksgiving weekend! MinnesotaBrown will slow down over the holiday weekend. Nevertheless, the doldrums of holiday radio in northern Minnesota will be restored to greatness (or something) by the Great Northern Radio Show.

Our very successful Eveleth broadcast will re-air from 9-11 a.m. Thanksgiving Thursday on the Northern Community Radio network of 91.7 KAXE (89.9 Brainerd) and 90.5 KBXE Bemidji.

The show will also make its Duluth debut, airing from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 7-9 p.m. on 103.3 KUMD.

Both stations offer a live feed on their websites, which you’ll find linked above.

I’m really proud of that Eveleth show, so please check it out. We had Matt Ray and Those Damn Horses and the Sam Miltich Trio as headliners, along with a tremendous supporting cast including Slovenian button box man Paul Paulisich, pictured at left, Iris Kolodji, Paul Seeba, Casey Aro, special guests and the Great Northern Radio Players.

The Miltich Trio will be back for our next show, already just around the corner, taking on a larger role in that program. We’re doing a Dec. 15 holiday/winter show from the Edge Center for the Performing Arts in Bigfork, Minnesota — our closest show yet to the North Pole. A host of local acts and actors will take part, a true treasure-trove of unheralded woodsy talent. Find out more.
