This week I’m busy preparing the Great Northern Radio Show, which makes its Season 3 debut thisSaturday, Oct. 19 at Crosby-Ironton High School in Crosby, Minnesota. Please, consider joining us for the live show in Crosby (seating before 4:30 p.m., free!) or tuning in on the radio or live online feed (5-7 p.m.).

Throughout the week I’ll tell you a little about the talent we have lined up for this show, continuing today with Faith Boblett.

I found out about Faith from Centerstage Minnesota producer Charlie Pulkrabek, who has been playing her on his show on Northern Community Radio. Charlie is also the post-production specialist for the Great Northern Radio Show and has a great ear for local music.

Faith’s first album “Oil and Water” will be released today and it worked out perfectly to have her debut some of her new songs on Saturday’s Great Northern Radio Show in Crosby, where she spent some time as a kid. Her dad Paul, who is also her bass player, is the publisher of the Outing Press in nearby Outing, Minnesota.

After attending the Perpich School for the Arts in Golden Valley for high school, she is now out on her own — playing gigs around the Twin Cities and preparing to support this new album. Here’s Faith’s bio from her website:

Faith Boblett is the product of her upbringing. Surrounded by music, and raised by parents that actually met each other in a band, Faith started singing at a very young age. After her family moved to a small town in rural Minnesota, Faith began playing guitar and writing her own songs at thirteen.

Faith’s music crosses a few genres. I’ve heard the album and there is certainly the unifying element of the class “singer/songwriter” sound, but she veers into some country/blues influence and has a lovely stylistic range in her songs. We’re really excited to have her and her band on the show this Saturday.

You can buy Faith’s brand new album “Oil and Water” here.

Stay tuned this week for more news about the Great Northern Radio Show, broadcasting 5-7 p.m. on Northern Community Radio on Saturday, Oct. 19 from Crosby-Ironton High School.
