Scenic Range NewsForum expands web presence

Iron Range newsThe Scenic Range NewsForum on the western Mesabi Iron Range recently launched its new website, a mobile-optimized site that tosses aside its clunky PDF reader-style predecessor. Along with this comes news that the Scenic snatched the low bid for becoming Itasca County’s newspaper of record, leaving the Grand Rapids Herald-Review to this painfully defensive story.

As I’ve theorized, the long-term bet in small town journalism might be the weekly newspaper. Low overhead. Intimate coverage areas. And a proper web presence can make them relevant for breaking news as well.

Here’s the Scenic’s press release:

The Scenic Range NewsForum recently launched a new website to better serve readers with its online presence. The new site is available at www.scenicrangenewsforum.com. Here, readers can access the latest news, sports, obituaries and legal notices on the West Range.

“This new site increases access to the content of our newspaper as well as offering readers links to other news sources in the region,” said SRNF Publisher Beth Bily. “It’s user-friendly and much easier to navigate than our previous website.”

The SRNF welcomes reader insight and input to ensure the highest value to our readers. Those with comments or questions are encouraged to contact us at: editor@scenicrangenewsforum.com.

The Scenic Range NewsForum covers Coleraine, Bovey, Taconite, Marble, Calumet, Nashwauk and Keewatin, along with the western Mesabi townships, including my neighborhood in Balsam.
