Winter ain’t over; winter ain’t ever over

Spring in northern Minnesota means dealing with setbacks. So, last weekend, two ships left the Port of Duluth to start the spring shipping season. Sure, they needed the help of ice cutters, but still: Spring!

The Presque Isle left the the Port of Duluth with assistance from ice cutting vessels last weekend, but is now returning to harbor for repairs.

Well, according to Duluth Shipping News, those ships have been damaged by the crushing late season ice on Lake Superior and have turned back to Duluth for repairs.

Also, a major snow event of undetermined size is now predicted for Monday and Tuesday of this upcoming week. I’ve seen anywhere between an inch and a foot forecast for the Iron Range, but Duluth is probably getting socked either way.

Duluth is already past 104 inches of snowfall on the season, and is now going to make a run at the record.

March in northern Minnesota is a precision machine built for disappointment.

I need to take a sip of coffee one moment, back. ” AB” huh ? Well that would me my wonderful wife who does not care a bit what I call my self. But I think I got when I am ready, GreenMinnesotaBrown, that is me.
