The Pioneer Mine in Ely, Minnesota, is now a cultural center and remains site of one of the major underground mines on the Vermilion Range. Fittingly, it is now directly across the street from a major hotel and convention center catering to tourists and business meetings. The Great Northern Radio Show broadcasts live from Ely on Saturday, June 14.
