See the Great Northern Radio Show as broadcast on Channel 12 Public Access in the Northwestern Twin Cities suburbs:

On Saturday, March 7, we broadcast my Great Northern Radio Show live from the stage of North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. It was our first broadcast from the Twin Cities metropolitan area and our first time broadcasting live on Twin Cities radio with Jazz 88 in Minneapolis.
The show will be rebroadcast on our home station Northern Community Radio Wednesday night from 9-11 p.m. and again this Saturday, March 21 from 5-7 p.m. NCR may run the episode again one more time next week before the podcast is released at the GNRS program page. Channel 12 cable access did a nice job recording the show for television broadcast, which you can watch now in the window at the top of this post or here.
UPDATE: Listen now to the Brooklyn Park show.
It felt like a strong show to me. There are always areas I’d like to work over one more time, but the joy and terror of this deal is that we really only have 48 hours to spend with on-site execution of the elaborate planning which starts weeks earlier. What 14 shows has taught me is that I can see how Garrison Keillor does it every week; but I also see why he couldn’t keep hosting the morning show at the same time for that to happen. Nevertheless, I am going to try to gently increase show production for our upcoming fifth season.
Boy is it fun, though. Point at a band and they play what you tell them to. Write a stupid joke, get a grown up person to say it in a raccoon voice. A fella could get used to this.
Per usual, the next show aims to be something else entirely. We’ll be broadcasting live June 13, 2015 from the Arrowhead Center for the Arts in Grand Marais, Minnesota, way up Lake Superior’s North Shore, co-broadcasting with WTIP.
