(To the tune of “Do You Know the Way to San Jose“)

Do you know the way to Grand Marais?
I’ve been away so long. I may go wrong and lose my way.
Do you know the way to Grand Marais?
I’m going back up the North Shore to Grand Marais.

61 is a great big freeway.
Drive a hundred miles in your car.
See a cop, maybe two, with their radar.
Eat some pie, glass of milk. Fill up with gas
And all the driving pays off big
when you see Lake Superior through the glass

You can really breathe in Grand Marais
They’ve got a lot of arts. Cold wind blows, smell no farts.
I was born and raised in Grand Marais
I’m going back up the North Shore to Grand Marais.

I’m preparing to drive up the North Shore of Lake Superior for this Saturday evening’s live broadcast of my Great Northern Radio Show from the Arrowhead Center for the Arts in Grand Marais, Minnesota. We’ll be on the air from 5-7 p.m. this Saturday, June 13 on Northern Community Radio and WTIP North Shore Community Radio. Rebroadcasts and our podcast will follow at a later date.

I wrote about this show last week, so catch up if you missed our announcements about music and guests.

We still have a handful of free tickets left if you are planning a weekend trip to Grand Marais or live in the area. The live show is a lot of fun. You can call to reserve seats at 800-662-5799. We usually have open seats at the door as well due to no-shows or cancellations. So if you’re around, stop in!

We are primarily in the radio business, though. You can listen live on Northern Community Radio, which is 91.7 KAXE (Grand Rapids and the Iron Range), 90.5 KBXE (Bagley and Bemidji), 105.3 FM (Ely) and 89.9 FM (Brainerd). WTIP broadcasts up the Gunflint Trail, down the shore and out to Lake Superior at 90.7 FM in Grand Marais. Both stations offer live online feeds for your listening pleasure all over the world.

Feels like a good show to me. I’m looking forward to getting off the Range, up the North Shore and making some entertaining radio for folks like you. This is the last show on our “old” season,” and we’ll be upping production in the next season. If you haven’t tuned in for the last few, try us now.

(hat tip to our photographer Grant Frashier for the “Do You Know the Way to San Jose” concept)
