Virtual Chef’s Gala fundraiser show returns this week

You might recall that earlier this winter I was supposed to co-host the Second Harvest North Central Food Bank Chef’s Gala fundraiser program. Unfortunately, the show was postponed due to a COVID-19 spike in Itasca and Crow Wing counties. The event will return this Thursday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. amid an improved COVID situation in the region. You can watch (and pledge your support) at the Chef’s Gala website.

Celebrity chefs from the Grand Rapids and Brainerd areas will “compete” for glory as they raise funds for the food bank. They will seek to produce the best version of a classic food, macaroni and cheese. I wrote about mac and cheese in a column about hunger earlier this year.

I’ll be co-hosting the Chef’s Gala with my friend Heidi Holtan of Northern Community Radio (stepping in for my other friend Chuck Marohn, who couldn’t be here for the rescheduled date). I’ll be in Grand Rapids while Heidi hosts from Brainerd. We aim to provide a fun show, full of surprises and all the chaos that can transpire from live broadcasts. Plus, it raises money for a very worthy cause.

Join us on Thursday evening.
